Pierce Chapel AME Church Cemetery
Located near 1821 Seaver Road in the Sullivan Gardens area of Sullivan County, Tennessee. The cemetery is well-cared for. A sign on the fence notes that it is on the National Register of Historic Places. The foundation stones of the original chapel are surrounded by a flower garden. A brick pedestal at the front of the garden (presumably the location of the front door of the chapel) bears the bronze marker of the National Register.
The Hilltop Mission Church & Cemetery are a little further down this same road.

My name is Kim Aemo Morrison. My mother Eleanor Laverne Morrison “Bowditch” is currently resting with her family at your location. My mother was a loving mother and I miss her dearly. Even though we did not share the same blood ( I was adopted from S. Korea in the 80’s) she loved me like blood. Before she passed we were not together. Our family had fell apart and she was trying hard to make it whole again. I don’t have any pictures of her and can not find any online. Even one with her passing. I pray she knows that she was and still is loved! I will never let go of her. She was a gentle and kind woman who taught me to love strong and forgive those who have caused me pain. I was 14 when she passed and now am 31 with 3 beautiful kids of my own. What I am asking is if you have any information about her or if you or anyone knew her. Please contact me. Even if it is a simple picture from her obituary, I will be so grateful! Oh and please on the comment side to the right of her name. Can u please put. I love you mommy dearest FOREVER! Thank you for your time. Even if there isn’t anything you can do. Putting how I feel out in the air makes me feel better. I know that as I type this she is reading it smiling that beautiful, warm smile! Thank you again!

Kim, I am so sorry for your loss and I understand your pain. Unfortunately, we can’t add your memorial quote, “I love you mommy dearest FOREVER!” to the transcription. The comment section on the transcription is for any additional comments on the tombstone, but only those comments that could assist with genealogy, such as “married to _____”, “aged 45 years” or if the person is sharing a tombstone with someone else, this information is added. In our transcriptions, we decided many years ago to not include poems, Bible verses, memorial quotes, etc. because of the time that it would take to include these, and since we were doing the transcriptions to aid others with their genealogy. Again, I’m really sorry for your loss and I hope you understand our position. If you’d like a photo of her tombstone, email me at dcoxbriggs@charter.net.
Thank you! I have a pic of it. Thank you again and God bless.
