According to a Laura Bernard her grandfather (and mine) is buried in Murrell Cemetery. My parents attempted to visit his grave in the 1980’s. They said it was behind a church and were advised to visit it because it was full of snakes. I plan on visiting in the future and am wondering if you know if this is still the case.
Thanks,
Stan Duncan
Our Cemetery Survey Team visited this cemetery in August 2003 and didn’t run across any snakes, but we sure did find a yellow jacket nest! I was stung twelve times! As I recall, there was quite a bit of poison ivy, too. The cemetery was a little difficult to find and it was in pretty rough shape. If you plan to visit, I’d do so early in the spring or late in the fall.
