Obituary for James Wilbur Hill

James Wilbur Hill, age 88, of Bluff City, TN passed away, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Cambridge House. 

He was a member of North Bristol Baptist Church and served as the Sunday School Director for 40 years. Wilbur was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and a was former volunteer at East Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Department. He was retired from Raytheon Corp.  He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Catherine Wicker Hill; his wife Edna Dye Hill and by his siblings, Vennie Nave, Louise Kennedy, Haynes Hill and Harold Hill. 

Survivors include his son, Danny Hill and wife, Peggy of Bristol, TN ; grandsons, Caleb Hill and Luke Hill; two sisters, Mary Ann Helbert and husband, Garland of Huntsville, AL and Ruth Phillips of Bristol, TN; one brother, Jack Hill and wife, Imogene of Bristol, TN; several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to give a special thank you to his caregiver who was so loving and devoted, Sue Perry and to the staff of Broadmore Assisted Living and the Cambridge House. 

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Ingle, Rev. Alan Moor and Rev. Tony French officiating. The committal service and entombment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Military Rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard and the TN Army National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of North Bristol Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to North Bristol Baptist Church, Building Fund, 46 Church St., Bristol, VA 24201
