Samuel Moore Born 1-15-1764 in Virginia, died 8-29-1834 in Sullivan County. Buried at the old home place, now called Gaines Cemetery at Orebank. He served in Stokes Co. N.C. (family tradition.) His father’s service is recorded. (Mathew Moore married Lititia Dalton)
Samuel married in 1788 in Surry Co. N.C. to Elizabeth Strothers Gaines (dau of Capt. James Gaines) She was born1769 in North Carolina and died 1820 in Sullivan County,Tennessee.
