Old transcriptions indicate there is also a stone for David McIntosh, but it was not found in 2002.

Additional information

From Patty Dronfield: “My grandmother (Gladys Light Conkin’s) mother was Diannah Churchwell, daughter of Henry T. Churchwell and Henrietta J. Boyer Churchwell (look at 1880 census for Sullivan County). I believe the census taker incorrectly transcribed Henrietta’s name and it appears on the typed copies as “Hency J” – but I truly believe it is suppose to be Henrietta J.). Sullivan County records show that Henry T. Churchwell and Henrietta Boyer married April 26, 1871 and had three children. Henrietta is not found on the 1890 census and I believe she died before that time but have been unable to find her gravesite. But I think Henry was buried in this Boyer Cemetery which may have been part of Henrietta’s family. And the John Churchwell also buried in this cemetery is Henry’s brother. Henry was a Civil War soldier and fought in the Union 4th Regimental Tennessee Calvary, Company B so I think that part is correct.

The note at the bottom of the cemetery page on the website states that Henry’s daughter married an unknown Boyer and were the parents of Charles Boyer who married Juda.

But, Henry’s daughter, Diannah Sydney (born 1875 per 1880 census under her father’s name) married Martin Luther “Luke” Light on September 22, 1896. She died April 6, 1945 and is buried next to her husband in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport.

H. T. Churchwell was a Union soldier in the War Between the States, serving in Company B, 4^th Tennessee Cavalry, US. He did not die in the War, as he is found in the 1880 census with wife, E. J. (Henry) who was born in Virginia, daughter, Diannah, and sons, John and George.

He is also listed in the 1900 census of Sullivan County with George and James, two of his sons.

H. T. Churchwell’s daughter, Diannah married unknown Boyer and they were the parents of Charles Boyer, who married Juda. Charles and Juda Boyer are listed in the 1910 census of Sullivan County with the following children: Walter, Rose, Mary and Suda (Cox) and granddaughter, Glennie. Charles’ mother Diannah were also living with them in the 13^th district. In 1920, Charles, Judy, Glennie Cox (granddaughter) and Charles L. Unknown (boarder) are found in the 13^th district.

John and Melvina Boyer were listed in the 1920 census of Sullivan County, living in the 12^th Civil District with their children Willie, Henry, Mattie, Maud and Frances.
