One-room schoolhouses in Sullivan County
A group of faculty and doctoral students in the Educational Leadership Department at ETSU (East Tennessee State University) are researching one-room schoolhouses in Tennessee. They are looking for anyone who can provide information about these schools, especially the Rock Hill School in Sullivan County. The school was on the Sullivan/Carter line, but was supported by Sullivan County. When it closed in 1951, it was the last one-room schoolhouse in Sullivan County.
If anyone has information to share about the schools, please contact Jenny Lee at jennyleemaurer(at)gmail.com, or contact Dr. Jim Lampley by telephone at (423) 439-7619.

There are 2 sources on this web site which have substantial information on one-room schools: “Enterprise 1940” and “Mountain Memories.”
