Womack Family to Arkansas

My GG Uncle, Elijah T. Womack, was born in Polk County, TN on July 6, 1846. He is the son of Alexander & Freelove Thompson Womack, pioneers of Polk County. The family moved to McMinn Co during the Civil War. Elijah enlisted in the Fifth Tennessee Mountain Infantry and was honorably discharged June 27, 1865. In 1865, he also married Lucinda Francina Marler in McMinn County. Between 1870 & 1880, Elijah & family moved to Meigs County, TN., as they are listed on the 1880 Meigs Census. By 1881, they are residing in Benton County, Arkansas. Family rumor says that quite a few families traveled west at the same time. Elijah remained in Arkansas until approx. 1920, when he moved to Southwest City, McDonald Co., Missouri. This area is just across the state line of Arkansas. Elijah died August 6, 1929, and is buried in Southwest CityCemetery, McDonald Co., MO.
