Larkin George Gothard Moves to Texas

Larkin George Gothard, son of George and Nancy (Carter) Gothard was born 1825 in Dayton, Rhea Cty., TN. He died in 1870 (pneumonia). He served in the Mexican War in San Augustine Cty., TX. He liked the area so much that when his time was up, he returned to Rhea Cty., TN and married Elizabeth Butler, daughter of Hampton and Sallie (Moyers/Majors?) Butler and both families moved to San Augustine Cty, TX . They were there by the 1850 Census. Larkin and Elizabeth’s children were:

8. Betty b. Mar 9, 1865 m. Dave Cagle

Larkin was in the Civil War on the Confederate side.
