COLLINS, Walter Acie   17 Feb 1885 – 6 Dec 1948

COLLINS – Walter, 63, died at his home in the Clear Creek community near Dayton, Tenn., Monday. He was the son of the late J. D. and Margaret Houston Collins, pioneer settlers of Rhea County. He was a prominent farmer of the Clear Creek community until retiring about four years ago because of ill health. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Carney Collins; daughter, Mrs. John West; son, Rattis; five grandchildren, all of the Clear Creek community; two brothers, John and Cleo Collins. Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the home by Revs. Theo Harris and Houk Fairchild. Pallbearers, Garland Carney, Junior Carney, Elvis Atkinson, Raso Polston, Stewart McClure, Clark Carney, John Rector, Paul Smith; honorary, Morgan Day, Tom Houston, Jeff Sherrill. Interment in Montgomery Cemetery. Sawyer’s funeral Service, Dayton, in charge.
