Woodland Baptist Church
Obion County, Tennessee

Woodland Mills, in Civil District 2, was originally in District 13, Range 5, Section 9, on the waters of Reelfoot and Cane Creek. The town began at the intersection of the Nashville and Northwestern RR (built in 1858) and the Union City-Hickman Highway. It is north and a little west of Union City very near the Kentucky State Line.

In 1869 thirty or so people from Poplar Grove Baptist Church established the first Baptist church in Woodland Mills. Swannie Burrus gave the land for the fist building, one small room with columns in the center.  The first building was a small room with columns in the center and the Beulah Association was formed her in 1888 (Marshall, Obion Co History p.140)
