To all to whom these presents shall come–greetings
KNOW YE, That, by virtue of part of Warrant No. 641 dated the 10 day of July 1784, Issued to Daniel McKizich by John Armstrong – Entry Officer of Claims for the North Carolina Western lands and entered on the 18 day of September 1807 by No. 578
there is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto James Patton and Andrew Erwin, assignees of the said Daniel McKizich
a certain Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing six hundred and forty acres, lying in Bedford County in the second District, third range and fourth section, on the head waters of Cane Creek, a North branch of Elk River. Beginning at a Beech and Sugartree in the East boundary of entry number for six hundred and forty acres in the name of John (??) Blount, one hundred and sixty poles South of his North East corner – Running thence East seventy eight poles to a Sugartree and Hornbeam in or near a dry drain, thence North crossing the dividing ridge between Duck river and Elk ruver, in all three hundred and forty poles to a large Beech tree lettered thus: “P & AE,” thence West crossing said ridge again, crossing a branch at two hundred and forty nine poles, running in all four hundred and twenty seven poles to a Sugartree, Beech and Lynn, thence South crossing a dry drain at twelve poles, running branch at twenty six poles, another dry branch at thirty eight poles, crossing another branch at ninety poles, in all three hundred and forty poles to a Sugartree, thence East ninety two poles to a Cherry tree and Ash in the West boundary line of said Blount’s tract, thence with the West boundary line thereof, North one hundred and sixty poles to a Dogwood and Mulberry, said Blount’s North West corner, thence with another of said lines East crossing two small dry drains, in all two hundred and fifty six poles to an Elm & Sugartree, said Blount’s North East corner, thence with another of said Blount’s lines South to the Beginning – Surveyed August first 1808
With the hereditaments and appurtenances. To HAVE and to HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of LAND, with its appurtenances, to the said James Patton and Andrew Erwin
and their heirs forever.
In Witness Whereof, John Sevier, Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at Knoxville, on the sixteenth day of December in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred and eight, and of the independence of the United States, the thirty third.
