HUSBAND:  Thompson Cannon.

BORN:      Aug. 20, 1793 in North Carolina.

MARRIAGE:  Elizabeth Kinnard on July 23, 1811, Williamson Co., TN. (College Grove)

DIED:  Oct. 5, 1834, Bedford Co., TN.  Buried in Cannon Cemetery at Belfast.

FATHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:  Minos Cannon, born 1756 in MD.

MOTHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:  Letitia Thompson, born Aug. 29, 1753 in Guilford Co., NC (then Anson).

NOTES:   This part of Bedford Co. became Marshall Co. Thompson Cannon was probably the 2nd settler to come to Belfast, TN.  The first was Nathaniel Dryden.  Thompson was one of five sons born to Minos Cannon, soldier of the Revolutionary War.  Thompson’s mother, Letitia Thompson, was the daughter of Robert or Roger Thompson, “The Regulator”, and the first man to fall at the Battle of Alamance.  It is said that his was the first blood shed in the Revolutionary War.  The Cannons came from NC to Williamson Co., TN.  Thompson’s brother, Clement, gave the land for the county seat of Bedford and brother Newton became Governor of TN.  His parents are buried in the Old Cannon Cemetery in College Grove, Williamson Co.,  where the Cannon Plantation used to be.

BORN:  April 15, 1795.

DIED:  March 23, 1864, Marshall Co. TN and buried in Cannon Cemetery, Belfast, TN.

FATHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:  John Kinnard, Jr.

MOTHER’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH:  Mary Townsend born about 1702 in Kent Co., Delaware.

NOTES:  The Kinnards immigrated from Scotland.  John Kinnard, Sr. was a PVT in the Revolutionary War.  Kinnards and Cannons and Thompsons all came to Tennessee to settle.
