Log of Additions To This       Web Site (newest on top)

10/07/2014: Will Book 1 transcriptions continuing and being uploaded to the site daily.

10/02/2014: Added a deeds section to the site. They can be accessed through the archives section of the main page navigation bar. Also one more Will was transcribed in the Wills section, and one deed dated 1866 and found in Will Book 1 was transcribed and placed in the Deeds section. The document viewers on this site (in Wills and Court Minutes) were updated by adding code to enable page changes in the viewer by pressing "enter" on the keyboard as well as by clicking "GO", either way.

10/01/2014: The image scans of all 340 pages of Will Book 1 have now been added to the wills section. That is now completed. Transcriptions of these will continue.

09/26/2014: 100 pages of Marion County Will Book 1 were scanned, including the index to the roll. The images were placed in the wills section, and image viewers were placed on this site to view them. This is only about 1/4 of the roll, but the scanning will continue until finished. The first three wills have been transcribed.

Eventually visitors can view the scanned images of the Will Book 1 microfilm roll and also see them all transcribed. Transcriptions make them text-searchable. Wills are accessed from the main page through the "archives" section of the menu bar. If anyone wants to help me transcribe these, all help is welcome. Just let me know.

A few bugs in the code that ran the County Court minutes scanned images viewer was fixed. It seems that when the page was reloaded the image would not change back to the first image of the set. I had intended when refreshing the page, as well as when first opening the page, that the viewer would go back to the start. That is fixed now.

09/24/2014: Added 3 wills and an every name index of testators and heirs to the wills section. Added more Hustler newspaper items. Added a link to a detail of Cherokee residents records. Added photo of the old Orme train depot to the "Marion County Scenes" photos section.
