RUSSELL, Dora – (d. 1943)

Mrs. Dora Russell Goes to Her Reward

Mrs. Dora Russell, aged 61 years, died at her home in the Kirbytown section of the county at about five o’clock Thursday afternoon of last week after four years of ill health, attributed to cancer. She is survived by her husband, Elijah Russell; one son, Lawrence Russell, with whom she made her home; one daughter, Mrs. Sam Dyer, of Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Alice Shrum, of Illinois; and three brothers, Frank, Benton, and Claude Steen, all of Lafayette or nearby.

The remains were laid to rest about three o’clock Friday afternoon in the Nelse McDonald Cemetery, following funeral services conducted by Elder Calvin Gregory, The deceased, who was the daughter of Elihu Steen, was a member of Beech Bottom Baptist church for many years. She was a hard working woman and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends

NICHOLS, Versie Inez – (d. 1959)

Versie Inez Nichols Dies at 62 Years

Mrs. Versie Inez Nichols, 62, died suddenly July 15 at her home in the Ebenezer community of this county. Mrs. Nichols had fallen six weeks ago and broken a hip, but until recently. Funeral services were held at the Ebenezer Baptist church on Friday, July 17 by Elders W. T. Russell, Genie Gregory, and T. C. Jones. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery.

She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist church. Mrs. Nichols was a native of Macon county, the daughter of Jim O. and Vickie Smith Russell. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Nichols; three sons Clarence Nichols of Madison, and Ray and T.V. Nichols, both of Dixon Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Corinne Evetts, Dixon Springs; two brothers, Leslie Russell, Dixon Springs, and Patty Russell, Franklin, KY; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Alexander Funeral home, Lafayette, was in charge of arrangements.
