Brewer, Lanny Doyle
On the morning of October 8, 2021, Mr. Lanny Doyle Brewer peacefully passed away at AHC McNairy. He was born in Hohenwald, TN to the late Chester Leon and Mary Lee Anderson Brewer on January 6, 1951. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammy, and Billy Brewer.
Coming from humble beginnings, Lanny went to work at Dana Corporation and as a part time mechanic at the Honda Cycles shop after graduating from high school. After retiring from Dana, Lanny opened Brewer’s Carpet on Main Street and kept the coffee brewed daily for over 25 years. There were few days that went by where you wouldn’t go by the shop and not see a group of men gathered around sharing coffee and gossip – a lot of the world’s problems were solved in that room! There are countless stories from people talking about how much he helped them out when they needed it, and each story is a balm to the hurt we feel right now that he is gone.
He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting rabbit, dove, and quail. He loved being on the greens for golf outings with his friends. Lanny lived life to the fullest and would often set sail on a cruise or host many weekends get togethers. He is probably most well known for his love of restoring old cars. One would never know what the next car project would be to roll through our small town.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his two brothers, Jimmy (Martha) Brewer and Timmy (Lisa) Brewer. In honoring Lanny’s requests, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones a little tighter today and make sure they know how much they are loved.
