Thompson, James Terry
James Terry Thompson, 70 of Hohenwald passed away November 8, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. He was born March 10,1949 in Centerville to the late James “Jeep” Robert and Betty Jo Edwards Thompson. Mr. Thompson owned and operated Double T Construction for 33 years.
After high school Terry received a full ride to Western Kentucky for football. During his college career he was named All American two times, he led the nation in tackles for two years, and was featured on the front cover of Sports Illustrated in 1969. After his football career, in his spare time he would often enjoy being outside hunting or taking the boat out with his wife for some fishing. He was always one to have a good time with family and friends. At home he was a devoted family man enjoying the time with his children, grandchildren and his two dogs Hooch and Hazel. Words cannot express how missed he will be.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 46 years Mrs. Gwen Jackson Thompson; daughter Bambi (Chris) Holt; son Casey (Kayla) Thompson; grandchildren Cadence Fay Holt, Addison Elaine Thompson, and Cameron Renee Thompson; sister Phyllis (Eddie) Floyd; and a brother Joe (Jeannie) Thompson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday November 10, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Hohenwald Church of Christ. Visitation with family will begin at 1:00 pm until time of service. Brother John Eglinton will be officiating.
