Pewett, Charlie Jackson
Services for Elder Charlie Jackson Pewitt Jr., 88, of Centerville, who died on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, were held on Saturday, July 27 at McDonald Funeral Home.
A native of Franklin, Elder Pewitt was the husband of Geraldine Pewitt, to whom he was married for 54 years, and the son of the late Charlie J. and Lela Cartwright Pewitt Sr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in the Korean War, a total of four overseas tours; worked at Stauffer chemical Co. in Nashville and was president of Pewitt and Chenault Roofing Co. of Orlando Fla.
Elder Pewitt was a minister in Orlando and Taft, Fla., with his wife served as a ministry team and served as a Pentecostal Church of Christ minister in Columbia.
In addition to his wife he leaves his daughter, Jennifer Pewitt of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Wayne Pewitt of Nashville and Jacob Pewitt of Centerville; his sister, Mildred Fitzpatrick of Gulf Shores, Fla., two granddaughters, one step-granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Lunn, Elizabeth Sewell, Rachael Pewitt, and Margie Winishut.
His funeral service was led by Pastor Mark Thomas of the Pentecostal Church of Christ in Columbia and was followed by burial in Hillsboro-Leipers Fork Community Cemetery, Leipers Fork, TN.
