Bates, Daniel Dean Sr
Daniel Dean Bates, Sr. was born on July 18, 1933, in the Shipps Bend Community of Hickman County. He passed away on January 30, 2020, at his home in Centerville. He was 86 years, 6 months, and 12 days old.
He was the son of the late Marvin O. Bates and Margaret J. Lynch Bates.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Jessie Marie Bates and his 8 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his son Daniel Dean Bates, Jr. (Haley) of Bucksnort. Daughter Malina Taylor (Michael) of Ashland City. Grandsons Nicholas, Cameron, Jake, and Sam. Along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Bates worked for 35 years as a lineman for Meriwether Lewis Electric Co-Op in Centerville. In years past he had also spent time as a Hickman County Deputy, as a member of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department and would spend evenings doing electrical repairs.
He was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ.
Dean was also a member of the Centerville Masonic Lodge #618.
In his younger years, he thoroughly enjoyed rabbit hunting. He had many beagles over the years. Often times, he spent much more time running his dogs then he did shooting rabbits, and that was just fine with him.
Visitation will be 1 Feb 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and 2 Feb 2020 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman Co. The Funeral Service will be held on 2 Feb 2020 at 3:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County with Matthew Dotson conducting services for Mr. Bates. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Centerville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the Masonic Lodge. Information regarding the name of the specific fund and fund address will be forthcoming.
