Gallagher, Tommy D
Tommy Douglas Gallagher, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on February 14, 2026.
Tommy was born on October 24, 1950, in Florida, to the late George Gallagher and Elsie Ruth Watts Gallagher. He moved to Hohenwald 48 years ago from Fort Lauderdale, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple things he loved most.
He was united in marriage to Melanee Gallagher on July 22, 1976. She preceded him in death in 2023. This year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.
Tommy worked at Dana Corporation until its closing and later continued working as a stack track runner for a local sawmill. He was known as a busybody—always tinkering, fixing, or staying occupied with something. He was not one to sit still for long.
A loving, caring, and humorous man, Tommy cherished his children and grandchildren. While he deeply loved his family, those who knew him best also knew his dogs held a special place in his heart. Some say he loved his dogs more than people. He enjoyed sports, especially cheering on the Tennessee Titans.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Gallagher; his son, Jason (Pam) Gallagher; his daughter, Tammy (Bobby) Fuller; his sister, Debbie Gallagher; and a son from another mother, Stephen Owen. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Austin White, Tionnie Roberts, Landon Gallagher, Nicole Gallagher, Cadyn Fuller, and Noah Fuller; two great-grandchildren, Kentrell Woodham and Elaina Woodham; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Currently, there are no services scheduled.
McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Gallagher family.
