Malone, Carolyn Hadley
Carolyn (Carrie) Hadley Malone passed away on December 20th, 2025, at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville, TN, after 94 years of living life to the fullest, loving fiercely and laughing often. Carrie was born on June 5, 1931, in Greenbrier, TN, to the late Wade Henderson and Elizabeth Dabney Hadley. Carrie was the last of six Hadley children raised on a farm in the Ringgold community and was preceded in death by her brothers, Wade Henderson Hadley, Jr., Edmund Read Hadley, Richard (Dick) Mathews Hadley and sister, Wena Hadley Rudolph Halliburton and is survived by her brother William (Bill) Donelson Hadley. Her childhood was defined by the Depression and WWII, which instilled in her a strong work ethic, love of family and love for her country.
Carrie was a life-long learner beginning at Ringgold Elementary School and continuing to Clarksville High School and Austin Peay State College. Her lively and ‘ready for fun’ spirit made her a favorite. Friends made during her school years became lifelong friends. Learning did not stop at the end of her school days. She tried new things – piano lessons and ski trips and she amazed us learning to use a computer and a smart phone! She was a lover of all things outdoors – especially her birds, wildflowers and the creek.
In 1955, Carrie married Roy Donald (Don) Malone. They shared 62 years of marriage and raised three children: Elizabeth Malone Carey, Roy Donald (Bud) Malone, III, and Wade Hadley Malone. Their family life included worshiping and serving at Springfield First United Methodist. Carrie was also a member of the DAR, Ladies Hermitage Association and volunteered at the Robertson County Fair. Their family grew as they welcomed a son in law, James (Jim) Carey and daughters in law Beverly Fussell (Bud) Malone and Tracey Morris (Hadley) Malone. Next came grandchildren: Betsy Carey (Adam) Hoffman, Megan Malone (Matt) Bader, Katie Carey (Dave) Humphries, Jacob Hunter (Samantha) Malone, Carrie Mattison Malone, Andrew James (AJ) Malone and Warren Hadley Malone – thirteen great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Many good times were had with her brothers’ and sister’s families. She wanted her many nieces and nephews to know how dearly she loved them all.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Springfield First UMC on Saturday, December 27th at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jason Jones officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the UT Foundation to benefit the Don and Carrie Malone Family Scholarship Endowment set up to assist students from Montgomery or Robertson Counties majoring in Ag related studies. The address is: 2621 Morgan Circle, Morgan Hall, Knoxville, TN 37996-4502.
