Skelton, Douglas Duane
Douglas Duane Skelton, known affectionately as Doug to his friends and family, departed this life on December 27, 2025, at his home in Summertown, Tennessee. Born on September 21, 1960, in Trenton, Michigan, Doug’s early years were filled with the love and guidance of his parents, the late Charles and Senia Flippo Skelton. His journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, a passion for his work, and a multitude of interests that showcased his creative spirit.
Doug was a devoted husband to his wife of 45 years, Lisa Skelton, with whom he built a life rich in love and partnership. Together, they raised two sons, Jessie and Brandon Skelton, instilling in them the values of kindness and respect that Doug himself embodied. The joy of his life was further multiplied with the arrival of his grandchild, Brianna Kiersten, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
He is Survived by his brother Randy Skelton, though predeceased by his siblings Larry Hendrix Skelton, Charles Allen Skelton, and Glenda Kay Williams, the legacy of their close-knit family endures through the cherished memories they created together.
Doug’s professional life in construction was marked by his work ethic and a reputation for excellence. His colleagues respected him for his skill and dedication, and he was equally valued for his involvement in various associations within his field. His hands were skilled, and his heart was invested in every project he undertook.
Beyond his professional achievements, Doug was a man of many interests. His artistic talent was evident in his sketching and drawing, forms of expression that brought him and others great joy. He indulged his mechanical curiosity through his work on cars and trucks. Each interest was pursued with the same love and vigor that he applied to all aspects of his life.
