Stutts, William Riley
William Riley Stutts, known affectionately as Riley to his friends and family, passed away on December 17, 2025, at the age of 57 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Born on June 30, 1968, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Riley was a man of great character, known for his kindness, friendliness, and thoughtfulness.
Riley was preceded in death by his loving parents, Howard and Frances Russell Stutts. He is survived by a caring brother, Randy Stutts; a devoted sister, Tammy (Dale) Burlison; cherished nieces and nephews Janelle Stutts, Jake Stutts, Tosha (Nathan) Ruddle, and Joshua (Shelby) Baxter; and adored great-nieces and nephews Tyler Stutts, Kaden Ruddle, Sebastian Stutts, Colson Ruddle, Gentry Baxter, Millie Ruddle, and Kamryn Stutts. His memory will also be treasured by his aunts and uncles, Gene (Shirley) Russell, Barbara James, Bonnie Cothran, Connie (Joe) Woody, Patsy (Joe) Griner, Larry Stutts, and Rita (Bobby) Norris, along with his best friends T.K. (Jody) Davidson, and Joyce (Joey) Holt, and a host of other family and friends who were blessed to know him.
Riley dedicated many years of service as a foreman for the Lewis County Highway Department. His leadership and commitment to his work were evident in the quality and safety of the roads and infrastructure he helped to maintain. His work ethic and dedication to his community set a standard for all who worked with him.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Riley found peace and joy in hunting and fishing. Friends and family often found him sharing stories of his latest outdoor adventure or planning the next one.
Riley’s life was one of warmth and generosity. He had the rare ability to make everyone he met feel like a friend, and his presence alone could light up a room. His laughter was infectious, and his counsel was sought after by many.
Visitation with family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 1:00 pm until time of service of 3:30 pm. Brother Steve Holloway will be officiating the services.
