Barnett, William Leon
William “Will” Leon Barnett, age 64, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with his loving wife, Kim, by his side.
Will proudly served his country as a medic in the Army National Guard following high school. He later retired after 27 years of service as a correctional officer at Only Prison. After retiring, he faced ongoing health challenges with quiet strength and humor.
Will was married to the love of his life, Kim Odom Barnett, for 33 wonderful years. He was also the proud father of Joshua William Barnett from a previous marriage, Together, Will and Kim created a home filled with laughter, creativity, and love.
Will was known for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor and knack for making others laugh. He loved building “contraptions” with his son, nieces, and nephews, never quite knowing what they would turn out to be, only that fun and laughter were guaranteed.
A lifelong knife enthusiast, Will collected blades of all kinds. In the early years, when money was tight, Kim would suggest buying him a new shirt, and he’d joke, “Well, I’ve been looking at this knife…”
Will cherished time with family, playing cards and games, cutting up , and enjoying simple moments together. His life was a reminder that joy doesn’t come from possessions but from stories shared, laughter around the table, and love freely given.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Evelyn Barnett, and his sister Janice Barnett.
Will is survived by his wife, Kim Odom Barnett; his son, Joshua William Barnett; sisters, Mary Barnett Gatlin and Stephanie Barnett; brother, Stephen Barnett; along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
