Franks, Lila Diane
Lila Diane Casner Franks, age 78, of Waynesboro, passed away on July 16, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her cherished family. Those closest to her lovingly referred to her as Squeaky. She was born on June 14, 1947, in Lewis County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Edward and Annie Mae Waters Casner.
Diane’s remarkable spirit and unwavering work ethic were evident throughout her life. Her professional journey included many years as a seamstress at Clifton Manufacturing, Genesco, and Angelica. She later shared her nurturing heart as a kitchen worker at Creecy’s Restaurant and as a dietary aide at the Wayne County Nursing Home, serving others with kindness and compassion.
A devoted member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church, Diane was also actively involved in the Ladies in Pink Society, embodying a spirit of service and community.
In her leisurely moments, Diane embraced the joy of life. She had a passion for sewing and always up to embark on spontaneous trips. Most importantly, Diane relished every opportunity to support and celebrate her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending every activity and milestone with enthusiasm.
Diane’s love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, and unwavering support will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Wayne Franks of Waynesboro, daughters, Sonya Gail Melson (Billy) and Leigh Ann Pope (Kevin), both of Waynesboro, sister, Glenda Graves of Fairview, grandchildren, Bethany Lowe (Wayland), Hayden Franks (Janae), Maggi Cole (Logan), Hannah Melson, Eli Risner, Tessa Melson, and Boston Melson; great grandchildren, Jaxon Lowe, Lila Lowe, Lydia Lowe, Finley Burns, Copelyn Franks, Lennon Cole, and Lou Cole; special cousin, Joyce Simmons; and several brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Annie Mae Waters Casner, husband, James William Franks Jr., and brother, Robert Casner.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, with Craig Mason and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Waynesboro.
