Ogg, Jerry Wayne
Jerry Wayne Ogg, age 82 years, is a resident of Columbia, TN, and a former resident of Hohenwald, TN. passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family members. Jerry was the son of the late Burford and Vesta Ogg. He was married to his wife, Jean, for almost 33 years. He attended Lewis County Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served approximately eight years until a back injury left him unable to serve. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Services and drove a truck for many, many years. He loved watching his Tennessee Volunteers play football on Saturdays. He began to love inside dogs after getting our Chewie, even took him on a trip to California in the truck and vacation several times to Gatlinburg, his favorite place to go.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jean, and their son Jonathan Ogg, and four daughters from a previous marriage: Charmagne (Gary) Kidwell, Kimberly Ogg, Gerry Renee Ogg, and Tina (Stan) Camp. He has seven grandchildren: Kara (Chris Chumney) Perdue, Shawnee (Allen) Boone, Stone (Madelyne) Bledsoe, Kristian Rogers, Gerica (Tyler) Wadley, Caston (Kaylee Ashton) Maners, and Kainan (Lauren) Maners. He also has 14 great-grandchildren who he loves very much. Jerry is also survived by his sisters Monette Ogg King and Donetta (Ronnie) Carroll; brother, Danny (Tammy) Ogg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Melba Ogg, his sisters Peggy Ogg Pogue, Brenda Ogg Sandefur, Karen Ogg, and his brothers Donald and Bobby Ogg.
A memorial service will be held in chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 21, 2024, with a visitation with the family from noon until the service. Brother Bill Webb will be officiating.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Gentiva for the care and compassion they have shown us during this time of our lives. It has been greatly appreciated. We also wish to thank the staff of Maury Regional Hospital for the care received by the critical care unit and the step-down unit.
