Holloway, Wanda McClain
Wanda McClain Holloway, a ray of warmth and generosity, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends in her hometown of Hohenwald, Tennessee. Born on May 1, 1958, to the late Ed and Jenny Seiber McClain, Wanda’s life was fulfilled by her unwavering spirit and nurturing heart.
Wanda’s journey through life was shared with her beloved husband of 47 years, Steve Holloway, and together they built a legacy of love and family. She was a devoted mother to Kayla (Jeremy) Harris and Ethan Holloway, and her joy was then multiplied as she embraced the role of Nonnie to Jaden, Linley, Makena, Huntley, Kinsley, and Finley. Her siblings, Lena Jo Warren, Jerry McClain, and Jeff McClain, stood by her side throughout her life. She is also survived by her mother in law, Peggy Holloway and Brother In Law, Chris Holloway (Brandi) and Sister In Law, Pam Pittman (Mitchel). Wanda was preceded in death by her siblings Charlie McClain, Maggie Yeiser, and Edward Lee McClain, as well as her respected father-in-law Cordell Holloway.
Wanda’s professional life was marked by an unwavering commitment to care and service. She spent eight heartfelt years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the local nursing home before transitioning to the role of School Nurse for Lewis County Schools, where she spent over 33 years attending to the health and well-being of countless children. Her gentle touch and reassuring presence left an indelible mark on the community she served.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Wanda lived a life full of passion and involvement. She was a fixture at every sporting event, fishing trip, and hunting expedition with her grandchildren, always eager to hear their stories and share in their adventures. Her love for her family was matched only by her dedication to bringing joy to her community. Alongside Steve, she embodied the Christmas spirit as Mrs. Claus for nine years, her infectious smile and happiness lighting up the holiday season. Wanda’s interests extended to cherished trips to Gatlinburg, where she found delight in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Her love for travel was a reflection of her love for life and the experiences it offered.
Those who knew Wanda will remember her as the loving, gentle, and generous woman we have all come to love. She was a woman who gave of herself freely and without reservation, enriching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
