Vaughn, Johnny Ray
Johnny Ray (J.V.) Vaughn, was born on December 26, 1960, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Johnny passed away at Perry County Nursing on November 26, 2023, following a brief illness aged 62.
Johnny grew up in Hohenwald, where he attended Lewis County Schools. He worked at V&W Ready Mix Concrete Company, at his father’s business all of his working life. Johnny continued working with the concrete company until 2010, when complications of his lower back deemed him disabled to work. Even though Johnny suffered from his condition, you would never know he was in pain. He was always out-going and jovial to everyone. He was definitely a ‘people person.’ For this reason he chose to be surrounded by a host of friends. Johnny enjoyed outdoor activities, as long as his health would allow him, such as canoeing in the Buffalo River, and camping out. Often referred to as a character, he always enjoyed nhis life to the fullest.
Family and friends gathered for a Memorial Service on December 8, at The Sanctuary Pentecostal Church. Tim Cotham presided over the services, assisted by Gary Hensley, Jordan Pearcy and Ron Dash.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Plummer H. Vaughn and Martha E. Vaughn, nieces Heidi Schwendimann Cothran and Kathryn (Cassie) Schwendimann, and nephew Noah Vaughn Woodall.
