Mrs. Era Nell Bates, of Hohenwald, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the age of 100.
She was born in Hohenwald, on March 2, 1923, to the late Willie Harden & Susie (Carroll) Harden. A homemaker most of her life, she also worked as a cook from the mid-1970s to the 1980s at the Lewis County Nursing Home. While her health allowed she attended the Trinity Assembly of God and enjoyed cooking & sewing.

She is survived by her son, Randy (Nora) Bates, brother, George Ottis Harden, sister, Aileen Peery, two grandchildren Mark Bates and Tana Fetcho, and two great-grandchildren, Dylan & Shayla Fetcho.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Blandell Bates, son, Tim Bates, daughter, Brenda Mickey, brothers, Elvis and Norman Harden, sisters, Elizabeth Harden and Dorothy Cantrell, and a grandson, Brandon Bates.

Visitation with the family will be held at McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County on Friday, March 31, 2023 beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN.
