Skelton, Larry Hendrix
Mr. Larry Skelton of Hohenwald passed from this life on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 71.
Larry was born in Hohenwald on June 1, 1951, to Charlie Skelton and Senia Marie (Flippo) Skelton. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Sandee (Childress), and they were married for nearly fifty-four years.
Larry was an electrician at DANA until its closing. He and his wife then started their own business known as Health Angels Staffing. They continue to serve many residents in the community. Larry was extremely passionate about serving his community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, #1 Volunteer and Member of the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund, one of the founders of the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund Car Show, and he also was instrumental in starting the Ticked off at Cancer Ride. He was a beloved Jr. Pro football coach and little league baseball coach. He coached hundreds of kids during his time, many of which he encountered during recent hospital stays. He was the founder of the “Little Big Man Bowl” as well. He was very active outdoors and enjoyed any type of hunting, fishing, or going to the river. He rebuilt his 1957 Chevy Belair and enjoyed showing that when he could. Above all, he was a beloved husband, dad, and granddad. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them.
He is survived by his wife, Sandee Skelton of Hohenwald, daughter, Sheila (Jeff) Mullins of Hohenwald, brothers, Doug (Lisa) Skelton and Randy (Shiny) Skelton, grandchildren, Dustin (Haley) Skelton, Dylon (Marina) Baker, Logan (Sarah) Hankins, Brock (Lauren) Hankins, and Faith (Kenny) Hankins, step-grandchildren, Justin Mullins, Crystal (Ian) Mullins, and Shawn Pollock, sixteen great grandchildren, special friend and caregiver that was close to Larry’s heart, Kayla Hankins, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home – Lewis County Chapel with Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the O’Guin Cemetery, Hohenwald, TN.
