I have extensive information on the Blankenship family in Henderson County Tennessee. How do I add the family name to the list of Surnames? The family first moved to Henderson in the early 1820 time period. They lived out in the area where Natchez Trace Park is now located.
I am related to the Blankenship family through the Wood family. I’d love to see this information.
It would be really good if the family items had a way to sent that person an E-mail.
I noticed your information about the Presley school on this site. In family research I found that R. L. Prelsey (Robert Lee) gave farmland from Presley Ridge for a school. I do not know who Ripley is. Do you have information on a Ripley Prelsey? Could this be a mistake? Where was the school located?
I am looking for information about the background of Robert Lee Presley 1872-1936, wife Clara Montgomery. His father was Caleb Presley 1818-1880, who died when Robert was 8 and his mother died the year of his birth so there is little known other than Caleb was from North Carolina.
Thank you,
Looks like a mistake to me. R. L. may have been transcribed as Riley for this school. I don’t have any further information on Caleb but do have some information on Clara on my personal web site at https://30504.com/trees/tree/jerry_linda_butler/individual/I18309/Martha-Clara-Montgomery
I have this note on Robert Presley – Robert L. Presley married Martha Clara Montgomery daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Parker and John Anderson Montgomery. Clara’s grandfather, James Montgomery, landed his boat on White Oak Creek in Hardin Co. in 1824 and was a school commissioner in 1840. Robert and Clara Presley bought a farm near the Henderson Decatur Co. line and reared their family. The Presleys with forethought for educating their children gave the land and built a school. The teacher boarded with them. The school was named Presley Ridge School and was located where Presley later built his home and reared two daughters, both school teachers. Presley Ridge Road still runs past the home place which is now owned by descendants Gail and Glenda.
Thank you! Yes, Gail & Glenda are my dad’s cousins. As a teacher it is good to know that education was important.
Looking for information on Jameas Richard Monroe Ham. He went by the name Munroe. Or Allen Ham his brother. Thanks
