The negro, Calvin BRIGHT, charged with stealing from the store of Jerome HILL, and who was being tried before a committing court last Friday evening, has been lodged in jail for safe keeping, and will have a hearing before the next Circuit Court. In name, Calvin may be “BRIGHT”, but his deeds are dark!

Last Tuesday night some hungry thieves made a raid upon the store of our friend Jerome HILL, Esq., and helped themselves to as much bacon as they wanted. Of late, there has been too much of this kind of business practiced in Bolivar, and without some of the rogues are made an example of we may expect to hear of more of their depredations. Keep on the look-out for them.

Since the above was put in type, Calvin BRIGHT, colored, has been arrested as the one who committed the robbery, and was being tried before a committing court when we closed our forms yesterday evening. Calvin is running a streight-out ticket for the position of convict in the State penitentiary.
