Impressed Slaves, 10 Oct 1863 — 7 Comments

  1. I’m searching for my maternal grandfather
Bart and Melvina Abernathy. One of they’re children’s name was George Abernathy which were born in Giles County Tennessee in 1853 or 1863. They’re were slaves of William Buckner Abernathy or another relative which some moved outside Ripley/Henning Tennessee near Edith Nankipoo rd. Where my grandfather was born. I’m trying to find My great great grandfather’s parents meaning a immigration from Africa. There’s gotta be paperwork on the slaves who were bought and sold in North Carolina and Virginia. Anything would help with my family history.

  2. I’m searching for any information on my great grandfather, Green Pullen who was born in TN in 1824 or 1825, and his wife Mollie Pullen (I have no idea of her maiden name), born 1835. I am doing our family tree, but have no information on my paternal great grandparents except that they were born in TN, according to the 1870 and 1880 US Census. Thank you.

    • Hello Miss Faye I am requiring that you check out other resources as well. Such as Family Search, Family Tree and of Ancestry as well as Ancestry DNA. I’ve been searching and searching but I never give up. I have this mindset that I will not give up. I will take a rest on it but I’m back at it again. So it’s ongoing with me being an aspiring Author writing my first book being one day writing and publishing a book about my family. Hope you find your ancestors and do have a blessed day and be safe…J Abernathy

  3. I have searched and searched for my great grand faher’s Parents didn’t live in Giles County Tennessee. They were with another set of Abernathys who moved from Giles County Tn to Davidson County and that’s where Bart comes in at. Bart’s last name was spelled Abernathy. My great grand father’s DAD George O Abernathy. As for Abason his wife name was Melvina which was the parents of Julie Abernathy of Giles County Tennessee. Also George Abernathy was enlisted in the US Colored Troops. He eventually moved with Abernathy’s from Giles County Tn. Also I have found new info on a young slave girl that Hardaway Abernathy purchased in 1848. A Ann Juretta. She was only 11/12 yrs old. I just wanted to know where she was born and where her parents were. I also can’t find Abason and Melvina’s burial. I tried clicking on the african american cemetery but it could not be found. if you could help me find this info it will be greatly appreciated.

  4. I am looking for information or any additional records on my great grandfather, Jim (James) Reynold born in Giles, Tennessee in 1885. I have retrieved as much information as I can from Ancestry.com, and wanted to see if you have and records for my great grandfather. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  5. I looking for further information for Martha Leatherman and Alfred Balentine. They would be my grandfather Ernest Balentine who was the son of R.E. Balentine and Addie Pinkerton. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
