HomeQueryCherokees in TN

I see that many of my family members in 1820 Maury Co., TN census, but by 1830 most had moved to Morgan and Macoupin Counties, IL.   By 1840 most of them returned to Gibson County, TN.   Since many of these folks were Cherokee and White intermarriages, I’m assuming they left TN to avoid Indian resettlement plans, but why would they move back to Gibson County?  Was there something on the Indian front that would induce them to move to Gibson County between 1830 and 1840?   Any ideas on this score would be appreciated.  Thanks.
