BONDS, Evelyn – Wins Audition Prize (1930)
Trenton, Tenn., Dec. 25 – Trenton friends were delighted that little Miss Evelyn BONDS received such an ovation when she sang at the Palace Theatre in Dyersburg Monday evening and was awarded the prize she had won in the audition contest broadcast over station WOBT at Union City, recently. Dyersburg merchants had inaugurated the contest and different gifts were awarded the winners Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J.E. BONDS, parents of the gifted young lady. Mrs. John BIGGS, accompanist, and several others accompanied Evelyn BONDS to Dyersburg. They report that it was announced that her popular vote from radio listeners was the highest of all others in the contest.
