Daily Journal and Tribune (Knoxville) August 14, 1896 Wm. Whitlock Paid the Penalty for Murdering and Officer Somerville, Tenn., August 13 — Wm. H. WHITLOCK was hanged here today in the presence of a large crowd of people. The crime for which WHITLOCK was hanged was the murder of Constable W.D. HOLLIDAY near La Grange, Tenn., on August 9, 1895. WHITLOCK died proclaiming his innocence.
