Age 88, died November 14, 1996 in Pascagoula, MS.  She was born December 28, 1907 in Simpson Co.,KY, the youngest daughter of George W. Powell and Millie Ann Thomas Powell.  A native of KY, Mrs. Hunter resided in Dickson County, TN for fifty-five years before moving to Gautier, MS in 1984.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton Hunter, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and James N. Airhart of Gautier; three grandsons, David M. Dennis, Sierra Vista, AZ, Stephen E. Dennis, Falmouth, VA, Mark A. Dennis, Jacksonville, FL; three great-grandchildren, Jim, Marcia and Alan Dennis all of Sierra Vista, AZ; one sister, Mrs. Prudie Harrell of Portland, TN; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service was held on November 23, 1996 at Mt. Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, TN, with Rev. Dewayne Franklin officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
