GILMORE Family History
MATTHEW GILMORE:
Born circa 1760 possably in North Carolina. Migrated to Tenn. with his brother-in-law and sister, George and Elizabeth Gilmore Davidson. Matthew also had some other siblings that migrated through Middle Tn. also. His brother-in-law and sister James and Jean McCrory,another brother-in-law and sister Alex and Jane Scott.Two brother’s who’s where abouts have yet to be discovered were William and James Gilmore. Matthew migrated to Tenn. He went to Blount Co. where he married Margaret Logan in 1800. His brother-in-law George Davidson was witness. Matthew took his new bride to Dickson County where they lived on Cedar Creek Road in a log home on the banks of the creek,on the outskirts of Yellow Creek. Through the Dickson County Court Minutes we found that Matthew was active in the community as a juror for several terms, as a Captain in the Tennessee Militia for Dickson County, as a road surveyor.Matthew and Margaret Gilmore had atleast one child:

SAMUEL F. GILMORE:
born 10/27/1828 (son of Samuel and Elizabeth Gilmore above) in Dickson County.Married 11-19-1857 in Dickson County to Jeraldine A. Mitchell. The couple remained in the same area of Dickson County. They lived on Bear Creek Road in a log home.The couple had the following children:
