Richard Leigh Will (1859)

This Richard Leigh was born about 1804 in SC. He died Dec 1859 in Carroll Co., MO of pneumonia. His wife was Patsey (Martha) Humphrey born about 1809 in NC. She died in Jan of 1860, also of pneumonia. We think they had the following children: Emeline b c1827 TN, Adeline b c1829 TN, Hildra b c1831 TN, Martha b c1833 TN, Elizabeth J b c1835 TN, Richard b c1837 TN, Nancy C b c1840 TN, Lucy b 1840 (Md John BUSH 1861), James B b c1842 TN, William D b c1844 TN, Laodicia b c1846 MS, and Sarah A b c1848 MS (md Isiah MORRIS). This is according to the 1850 Census of Tippah Co., MS. We are hoping that Richard b c1837 TN is our Richard LEIGH who married Mary GREEN. We would welcome any comments. We are currently waiting for any probate records there may be concerning this will and will post them as soon as possible.

I, Richard Leigh Sr. do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possesed of or may first come into the hands of my executrix.
Secondly, I give and bequeath to my wife Patsey Leigh, formerly Patsey Humphrey all my land with all the appertinances thereto together with all my personal property money notes of which I may die possessed of to use as she may deem most conducive to her interest during her natural life and after her death what remains unconsumed by her I will that it be equally divided between my legitimate children.
Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife Patsey Leigh my executrix and excuse her from giving security in witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this –day of April 1859.

Signed sealed and published in our presence and we have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the testator this –day of Apr. 1859
