MCCOLLUM, Hugh L. – (d. 1897)
Hugh L. MCCOLLUM, one of Carroll County’s brightest and most promising young men was taken sick in Milan last week and died Sunday. He was confined only three or four days, some kind of bowel trouble being the cause of his death. Mr. MCCOLLUM was about 24 years old, a member of the U.P. church and genial, clever young man. He was universally popular and his untimely death is regretted by a large circle of friends. When taken sick he was clerking for E.M. BROWN, of Milan. He is the son of J.C. MCCOLLUM, of Atwood, where his remains were buried at the Pisgah burying ground.
