Marriage: PENICK, F.A. and MEBANE, Mary (1897)
A quiet, though beautiful and impressive marriage ceremony was performed yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home of Mr. Brown MEBANE, the father of the bride, near Hebron church, in the Sixteenth district. The contracting parties were Mr. F.A. PENICK and Miss Mary MEBANE, the ceremony being said by Rev. J.W. JOYNER, pastor of the Hollow Brook circuit of the M.E. Church , South. Messrs. Will A. GREEN and Robert PRESSON and Mrs. Emma JOHNSON and Miss Ella SWANE accompanied the groom from Hollow Rock, only a few invited friends being in attendance at the marriage. After the ceremony the bridal party drove to the home of Mr. F.A. PENICK, where a splendid reception was in waiting and to which several special friends had been invited. Mr. PENICK is one of Hollow Rock’s most promsing young business men and an excellent gentleman, and the bride is a charming young lady, a member of one of the best families in the county and the union is certainly a happy one.
