JONES, John – Breaks Leg (1897)
A Leg Broken — While walking up the street in front of E.G. RIDGLEY’s business house Wednesday morning, happened to a very serious accident. He, J.M. DAWSON and Mark DAWSON were walking along, joking each other when JONES attempted to kick Mark, but his foot slipped and he fell to the pavement, breaking his left leg just above the ankle. He was picked up by friends and carried to Dawson’s barber shop and a physician called in. The limb was dressed and he is doing as well as could be expected. He will not be able to be out for several weeks at best.
