Jasper Newton Patton

Born Aug. 22, 1826

Died Aug. 11, 1906

Epitaph: Beloved father, farewell.  Not on this perishing stone, but in the book of life and in the hearts of thy afflicted friends, is thy worth recorded.

(Jasper’s parents were David Patton and Jemima Overton)

Margaret Carolina McGinn

Wife of J.N. Patton

Born April 21, 1828

Died July 1, 1808

Epitaph: A wife devoted, A mother affectionate, A friend ever kind and true.

Dr. John McGinn Patton

Son of J.N. Patton and Margaret McGinn

Born Jan.28, 1859

Died Feb 1, 1892

Aged 33 yrs 3 days

Epitaph: Universally respected and loved in life.  He died at peace with all mankind, with the glorious hope of the rest that remaineth for people of God.

(He died after a road building accident and amputation of his leg. He left a 24 year old widow, Ada Moore Patton, and sons Charles Newton age 2, John Maurice age 4)

Epitaph: She was a fond mother and a friend to all.

(son of Jasper Newton Patton and Margaret McGinn Patton. W.D. never married)

Epitaph: Thy memory shall ever be a guiding star to heaven.

 

Broken Stone,

Mary J. ????

Could be Mary J. Patton, daughter of John Overton Patton and Nancy Jernigan. Or could be Mary J. Brandon, daughter of Elizabeth Patton and David Brandon

Inscription reads:
A loving wife
A mother dear
A faithful friend
Is buried here
