Topography
Cannon County is situated midway in the eastern section of Middle Tennessee. It has a area of 271 square miles. Cannon County was established on January 31, 1836. It was formed from portions of Rutherford, Smith, and Warren Counties. One third of the county lies on the Highland Rim and the remaining two thirds sits on the Eastern edge of the Central Basin. The two regions are tied together by Short Mountain, which sits in both.
