REED, RIGGS

I’m searching for John REED, who married Hannah SHIPMAN in Warren County KY in 1797, and David RIGGS, who married Nancy REED in Warren County KY in 1802. Both families were in Jackson County AL by 1822, but their children were born in TN between 1802 and 1822. The 1815 Williamson County tax list contains the names John REED and David RIGGS. Were they the same men who migrated from Warren County KY to Jackson County AL? Is there any way to determine from the tax list whether they were neighbors? Do any Williamson County researchers know who either of these men on the 1815 tax list were? Can anyone suggest other sources for information about these men in Williamson County? Any help sincerely appreciated! Thanks.

CHITTY, WARE

CHITTY, WARE. The courthouse at Columbia, TN. County seat of Maury County has the original marriage bond of BENJAMIN CHITTY(3) and NANCY WARE, dated 12 July 1814. Bondsman: George Cockburn. However, I believe them to have family in Maurry county before 1807 which would make it Williamson county. NANCY WARE, I believe, lived near the PERRY’s and the MOKES in the Water Valley of the Duck River in Maury County. Mrs. Charles C. Alexander, 903 Myers Ave. Columbia, Tenn. 38401, who did some searching for my husband’s aunt: JAN SEARL – KOLSH (who is 90 years old as of this year 1999), says the Maury County. Tenn. tax list gives BENJAMIN CHITTY for the years 1811, 1814, & 1816, but not for 1817, so I believe that is when they left Tennessee. In 1818 a PETER WEARE bought a lot from HENRY WADE, Vol.1, Book W. page 370. Whether he as kin of our NANCY WARE I do not know. JAN SEARL – KOLSH’S mother CLARA HOPE PERRY LOCKIE told her that NANCY WARE (JANICE SEARL – KOLSH’s grandmother) was a full — blooded Cheroke
