WILLIAMS

PETER WILLIAMS (b.1765 d. ca.1855) moved from Williamson County to Weakley County, Tn. about 1822. He was in the 1820 Williamson Co. Census and in the 1830-40-50 Weakley County Census. He signed the petition to have Weakley County created (1823).Peter brought several of his children with him to Weakley County, including a son, Allen (b.1786 d.1875) and the family settled in the northeast part of Weakley County. In Williamson County Deed Book D, page 200, in Dec. 1814, Peter is mentioned as having 640 acres of land that bordered land of Robert Caruthers. Caruthers was deeding part of his land to a son and mentioned that it once was owned by Oliver Williams. Also, Peter Williams is mentioned by Louise G. Lynch in her Newspaper Exerpts (1820-1835)as having owned the Franklin Inn in Franklin, and having to sell the same in 1821. Any information on Peter Williams or his relatives will be greatly appreciated.
