CSA Burials in Unmarked Graves Here are some Black Confederate Soldiers in Williamson County buried in unmarked graves. There are several more in the county, but these are the ones on which I have identified burial sites and have documentation verifying Confederate service. They are eligible for VA stones at no cost.   The Cemetery is is located at 6437 Arno Road, 6 houses on the right past McDaniel Road on the David Harwell Farm. David uncovered 8 tombstones and restored the cemetery. McGavock Cemetery

In 1866 the McGavocks donated two acres at Carnton for the reinternment of the Southern dead killed at the Battle of Franklin. Today the United Daughters of the Confederacy maintain the graves of 1,481 Confederate soldiers. This is the largest private Confederate cemetery in the country and is open to the public year around. There is no charge for admission.
