TAYLOR

My GGGParents were John Wesley Taylor and Letitia Givens of Williamson County, TN. m. 1837. JW’s parentage has yet to be determined(though searches have continued for over 25 years.) However, it has recently been strongly suggested that he was descended from James P. Taylor of Carter County. JW was born in 1819. If anyone can add to this query, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

STEELE

I am looking for info about the STEELE family who lived in Williamson Co. about 1800-20. There probably were 4 sons: James, Moses, James, & William plus maybe Mary and Martha. They probably migrated to southern Mississippi (Vicksburg & Marion County) in late 1820’s. One of the sons (who a stroke about 1820) may be the father of Rev. Elijah STEELE, (b. 1814 in Williamson) a well-loved Methodist Episcopal minister in southern Mississippi until his death in New Orleans (1841). Did one of the four brothers have a daughter Minerva, born in Mississippi about 1818? This has been a brick wall for a dozen or more years. Thanks for any guidance or assistance. Ruth
