CALL

I’m looking for information on Uriah CALL (my gg grandfather) and hisfamily. Uriah was born in SC between 1814 & 1816 anmoved to TN after1830. He married Sarah (born in Tn ca. 1818) prior to 1836. Theyhad 3 children while in TN Susan Jane ca 1836, Nancy Ellen 1838 andWilliam C. 1841.The 1840 TN census has a Uriah CALL in Williamson Co. The age rangesand sex for the children are correct and both Uriah and Sarah are inthe right range.They moved to IL before 1843 and then to AR by 1848.I would appreciate any information. I am trying to confirm what iscurrently only circumstantial evidence. I will gladly share myinformation with you.

SHAW

My wife’s great grandfather is Willis SHAW who was born in WilliamsonCounty on April 7, 1816/18? He is descended from one of three SHAWbrothers who immigrated from County Caven, Ireland in the mid-1700s. His father may or not be Nathaniel SHAW, Alexander SHAW, TerranceSHAW, or Thomas Timothy SHAW listed in the 1820 Williamson Countycensus. Willis married Mary Jane Wilkins who was born in BedfordCounty April 8, 1826, daughter of Charles & Lucy Wilkins. Thewedding took place in Tallahatchie County, MS on April 28, 1847. They had eleven children including Wiley Jones SHAW, my wife’sgrandfather. We are looking for relatives who may have filled in thegap between Williamson County and County Caven. Looking forward tofinding an answer to this mystery.

Researching Mair, Mairs, Marr, Marrs, and McMahon, McMahan,late-1700’s, early 1800’s. Daniel McMahon owned land on Big HarpethRiver as early as 1786. This land was probably in the Spencer Creekand/or Nelson Creek area just north of Franklin TN. Joseph Mairsbought land in 1800 adjacent to McMahon, witnessed by Hugh Mairs. My GGGrandfather was Edward SHELTON … according to his OBT: he wasborn in 1805, Mecklenburg, VA. Edward SHELTON married Zilpha(MAGNESS) GLENN on 1-1-1837 with Zilpha’s child from previousmarriage – John GLENN b. late 1836. William MCGEE was taxed for land on Turnbull Creek in 1819-25. HissonLewis MCGEE then took over the land. William was born abt 1767 inN.C.His wife was named Mary also born in N.C. in 1767. She died 1850/60inWayne Co., Tennessee living next to their son Elijah MCGEE. All oftheirchildren were born in Georgia, so they spent some time there. Elijahmarried Mary SHEPHARD. She was the daughter of Lewis SHEPHARD andElizabethNORRIS. Lewis and Elizabeth were married in Williamson Co. in 1810.Her fathers name was James NORRIS. He served in the war of 1812 andwas in the war at New Orleans. He died 1814-15 in Williamson Co. Hiswife was listed as having several children, but I have onlyidentifiedElizabeth so far.
