WILDER, James A.

WILDER, James A., banker; born Caswell Co. N. C., 1840; son J. B. and Nancy (Walker) WILDER; Scotch-Irish descent; educated common schools; married Emma TAYLOR Oct. 8, 1867; member Masons, Knights of Honor; in Confederate army four years; participated in battles of Shiloh, Chickamauga, Murfreesboro, Franklin and Nashville; started as Third Lieutenant and closed with rank of Major 6th Tenn. Inf., wounded at Chickamauga; president First National Bank of Brownsville, founded by him and R. M. Chambliss 1902; merchant from close of war until opening of bank 1902.
