THOMPSON, J. W., lawyer; born Wilson County, Tenn., November 14, 1864; son W. D. and Permelia (Murray) THOMPSON; Scotch-Irish descent; educated Masonic Normal School, Alexandria, Tenn.; married Leora DENTON April 20, 1909; member I. O. O. F., K. of P., several insurance orders; now Grand Treasurer of I. O. O. F. of Tennessee; began practice of law 1893; now Assistant Attorney-General of Davidson County, Tenn.; Democrat; his father died when he was 14 years of age and he had to help support large family and also was forced to provide means for his own education by working evenings, Saturdays and during vacations.
